    Letter from the Editor
Welcome to the View, I'm your host Brian Johnson.

"It's been a long time since we rock and rolled..." The View has been out of print since 2007, and in the last years the question was raised; "Do we even need the View, anymore?" At the time, RealmsNET was in full swing, handling In-Character and Out-Of-Character letters, missives, and announcements, as well as providing an excellent Event Calendar system! With all of this now being provided for free, and handled automatically, the need for The View From Valehaven seemed moot.

However, it is my belief that The View provided an important service. It was the publication of note for an entire multi-state community, and was the de facto place for items to be sent that needed a bit more weight. Additionally, it was our showcase for artwork, poems, and stories. finally, it was where announcements of great deeds and achievements were put into print, for the students of Realms History.

We've been around a very long time. We're pushing towards our 25th year! Other LARP systems have come and gone, but The Realms has evolved and stuck around for all these years. And that's something pretty special.

So, why bring The View back? I feel that we need a place for people to write, to show off their artwork, and to make note of Realms History. I also believe that The View can be a gateway for attracting new players, and a place to host information and how-to guides, to help new players acclimate to our game, and enable them to have a great time.

I hope to reach out to all of the Realms, North, Middle, South, and beyond, and make The View From Valehaven an all-encompassing publication.

Please, come along for the ride.

Archivist Annals (5, 10, and 20 years ago this month)

April, 2005 - A discussion of the changes in the Omnibus, the continuing series of interviews with notable people of the Realms, and the start of a series of articles about the Knights of the Eternal Flame. These Views also contained links to suppliers, and a selection of Missives sent through RealmsNET.

April, 2000 - Sadly, I do not have a View from this Month.

April, 1990 - In 1989, the very first View From Valehaven (March) was published by Shannon Slate (available in the archives!). It was intended to be a newsletter about all LARPs in New England, not just Shannon's own. The April issue in 1990 included an advertisement for the IFGS, and some of the responses to Prince bob claiming the title of "High King". This is the beginning of the end for Shannon Slate's involvement in the Realms.
